PAYMENT TERMS EXPLAINED

Compare the meaning.
Then compare the numbers.

Use this glossary to read a proposal. Ask the provider to confirm how each term applies to your business and agreement.

Processing fee

The percentage charged on processed transactions. Keep any fixed per-transaction charge beside it.

Fixed transaction fee

A dollar amount charged for each transaction. $0.20 means twenty US cents.

Rolling reserve

A percentage held for a stated period. It is separate from fees; ask how releases, termination and interruptions are handled.

Settlement delay · T+

The delay measured from an event the provider must define. Ask whether it uses business or calendar days.

Payout schedule

The days money is sent: for example, daily or selected weekdays. This is separate from the settlement delay.

Payout fee

The transfer cost, expressed as a percentage, a fixed amount, both together or no fee. Check currency conversion separately.

MID structure

The proposed merchant-identifier arrangement. Ask whether it is dedicated or part of a shared structure, who operates it and what can interrupt the service.

Provider type

Agent, intermediary or direct bank describes a role. It is separate from the MID structure and does not alone establish reliability.

Gateway and connection

The gateway is the proposed payment platform. The connection method is how your store uses it, such as a plugin, direct API or hosted checkout.

Volume tier

A set of terms tied to an explicitly defined processing threshold. Ask how volume is measured and when changed terms take effect.
