THE GAMBLING GUIDE

Know what to ask.
See what you’re getting.

Compare the full payment journey. Your offer should distinguish customer deposits, withdrawals, supported markets and the setup needed for your operating model.

Business and markets

Describe the type of gambling business, operating locations and any licences the provider asks to review.

Deposits and withdrawals

Ask whether the proposal covers customer deposits, withdrawals or both, and how each is priced.

Requirements and rollout

Clarify the provider’s verification requirements, reserves and technical setup before progressing.

Give providers a precise operating picture.

Describe the type of gambling business, its operating entity and the markets you want the provider to cover. The goal is to make the scope of the response specific enough that two proposals can be compared without guessing what either includes.

  • Identify your business model, website or platform and operating locations.
  • List the customer markets you want quoted and any markets you intend to add later.
  • Ask which licensing, ownership and business materials the provider needs to review for that scope.

Separate deposits from withdrawals.

Do not compress different flows into a single payment-support checkbox. Ask how customers can fund their accounts, how withdrawals would work and whether the same service covers both. Have the provider explain the parties, timing and charges at each step.

  • Request separate confirmation of deposit and withdrawal methods, currencies and limits.
  • Ask about failed, reversed or disputed payments and how reconciliation information is supplied.
  • Clarify customer checks, payout checks and which party is responsible for each requirement.

Compare the terms for your actual volumes.

Use the same volume assumptions when requesting quotes. If the provider offers tiers, ask which flow and monthly volume count toward a threshold. Record any fixed charges, minimums or separate withdrawal fees so the commercial comparison remains useful.

  • Separate processing charges, reserve holds, settlement delay and payout-transfer fees.
  • Ask which days payouts occur and whether stated delays count business or calendar days.
  • Confirm the contracting entity, account structure, exposure limits and conditions for changing or ending the service.

Plan the technical and approval handoff.

Ask the provider to describe a complete path from application to testing. Your technical team needs to know the proposed gateway or payment platform, the connection method and the information required to reconcile payments. Keep credentials outside public requests and proposal notes.

  • Agree the requested documents and review stages, including any downstream approval party.
  • Request integration documentation, a test process, event or status reporting and a support contact.
  • Define who checks the completed setup and who confirms the approved markets and methods before live use.

Why providers ask about your licences and markets.

US federal rules require payment systems to screen for restricted gambling transactions. That is why providers ask where you operate and how your transactions will be coded.

  • A person in the business of betting or wagering may not knowingly accept credit, electronic fund transfers, checks and certain other payments in connection with another person’s participation in unlawful internet gambling (31 U.S.C. §5363).
  • Regulation GG requires all non-exempt participants in designated payment systems to establish and implement written policies and procedures reasonably designed to identify and block, or otherwise prevent or prohibit, restricted transactions (12 CFR §233.5(a)).
  • For card systems, the regulation’s examples include a code system, such as transaction codes and merchant or business category codes, that must accompany each authorization request so a transaction that may be restricted can be identified and declined (12 CFR §233.6(d)(1)(ii)).
  • The same examples include due diligence on a commercial customer and its activities when the account is opened, in proportion to the risk of restricted transactions (12 CFR §233.6(b)(1)).
  • Your Zolution request names your customer markets, so each provider answers for those markets. Zolution never suggests serving a market where your business is not licensed.

Questions before you start.

Will an offer automatically cover every customer market?

Only the markets explicitly included by the provider should be treated as in scope. Ask for a written answer for each requested market.

Can deposit and withdrawal pricing differ?

Ask the provider to quote each flow separately and explain its charging basis. Keep those answers beside the main proposal so they are not lost in a follow-up email.

What should our developers receive?

Ask for the named gateway or platform, connection method, documentation, test access process, payment status information and the person responsible for implementation support.

Does a listed provider guarantee an approved application?

No. Its proposal can still have conditions and review steps. Keep the approval status separate from the quote and the implementation status.
